General Assessment Edit
The Firebolt Tower shoots out flaming arrows, which do fire damage over time when they hit the player or units. Against most units and the hero, this damage is very small and barely noticeable. In these cases, the Firebolt Tower is a strict upgrade of the Arrow Tower, with a much greater range, the fire damage it deals, and the tower's amount of health. Though in many cases, the Firebolt Tower won't do much killing, it does an amazing job of preventing the hero from regenerating health. With a range of 7, the highest range of any tower in the game, a Firebolt Tower will keep firing at the hero for a while. Even when the hero manages to get out the tower's reach, the hero will continue to burn from the fire damage, and will still not be able to regenerate health for a while.
Against troops that are weak to fire damage, the mummies, the frosters, the mortars and especially the cannons, the Firebolt Tower is super effective, and is able to kill those troops quickly. This is very useful against an attack involving cannons, which most do. If a cannon is under constant fire from a Firebolt Tower, it is able to get about one shot off before the cannon is killed by the fire. This means that a single well placed Firebolt Tower could pick off up to four cannons.
Since the Firebolt tower can only be dealt damage by ranged attacks, the only way the hero can damage a Firebolt is by using a spell or by equipping an Aura Ring that deals damage (fire, poison, etc). If a Firebolt Tower is placed on the opposite lane, the hero cannot damage the tower at all unless you don't upgrade your spell to a 6.03 range (i.e. Firestorm spell with 8 forgings on the range).
Fire Damage: The fire damage type is very useful for dealing with cannons, and also for causing the hero to burn, inhibiting their regeneration.
Range: The Firebolt Tower has the largest range of anything in the game, giving the tower opportunities to attack advancing units before they even see the Firebolt Tower in their range. It also makes it extremely difficult for the hero to regenerate when they are near a Firebolt Tower.
Distance from Path: When placed, the Firebolt Tower does not move to contact the path. Instead, it stays in the middle of that area. This causes the Firebolt Tower to only be vulnerable to ranged attacks. Knights and paladins walk right past a Firebolt Tower, taking damage as they do. The only way the hero can interact with a Firebolt Tower is with a spell. The distance also causes Firebolt Towers to not take spell damage through a Blockade or a Barricade as all other towers do.
Cost: With 1.5M Gold, constructing a Firebolt Tower is a very costly endeavor at the time it is unlocked. Upgrading a Firebolt Tower is also pricy, and high level Firebolt Towers are only seen very late in the game.
Low Damage: With troops that aren't weak to fire, a Firebolt Tower doesn't do much damage at all. It is rarely able to kill anything besides those troops weak to fire.
